Mervyn Wilson Parker

Mervyn Wilson Parker, of Walkerton, passed away suddenly in the early hours of Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at the Hanover and District Hospital.

Beloved husband and best friend of Kaye. Stepfather to Rob (Joanne) Wells of Mildmay, Mike (Linda) Wells of London, Paul (Stephanie) Wells of Walkerton and Jamie (Marie) Wells of Edmonton, AB. Cherished Grandfather and great grandfather to many. Beloved brother of Marilyn Thompson of Walkerton, and uncle to Doug, Dennis, Don (Thompson) and Sheila Elphick.

Mervyn is predeceased by his parents Wilson and Bernice Parker, stepson Paul Wells, brother-in-law Lloyd Thompson and stepdaughter-in-law Joanne Wells.

Merv loved to sing and over the years had been a member of the Grey Bruce Singers, the Knox Presbyterian Church Choir, and The Singer Tree. He was a kind, loving man with a strong work ethic. Merv loved to tease and was proud of the small family farm where he was born (or hatched as he would say).

He loved nature and in his younger years, enjoyed riding his motorcycle during the summer, and snowmobiling during the winter. Later on he enjoyed kayaking at the family cottage as well.

At the time of his death, he was a resident of The Village Seniors Community – Sprucewood Lodge, where he met new friends and enjoyed spending time with them and the workers, and was receiving excellent care.

A celebration of life for Merv began with words of remembrance at 1:00 p.m., followed by a reception until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Cameron’s in Walkerton.

As expressions of sympathy, we ask that you consider a donation of any kind to the Saugeen Hospice or St. John’s Ambulance – Therapy Dogs, in place of flowers would be appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences may be made online at www.cameronfuneralhomes.com
