On Saturday, October 12, 2024, Marilyn Joan Irwin passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Health Care Centre in Guelph, at the age of 69.
Beloved Daughter of (William) Ellwood Irwin and (Erma) Joan Irwin (Campbell), sister to Dan (Laarni) and Bart (Leslie), and loving and indulgent aunt to Jasmine, Kathleen, William and Danielle.
A devoted nurse, Marilyn held a variety of positions including as director of the RNA school at Wingham and District General Hospital, and in teaching and patient advocacy roles at St. Joseph’s Hospitals in London and Guelph, Guelph General Hospital and the Registered Nursing Association of Ontario. She was a tireless champion for quality nursing care.
Marilyn was also a remarkably creative and artistic individual. Her talents were demonstrated in many ways — a gifted seamstress, artist, and singer — and she was both prolific and generous in sharing her beautiful creations with others.
Marilyn loved her family and friends deeply, and her loss will be felt profoundly by all.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held to honour Marilyn in the coming weeks. Marilyn will ultimately be interned at Lurgan Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers as an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
