Margaret (Grietje) Vander Eyk (nee Feddema) passed away peacefully at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton on March 7th, 2025 in her 91st year.
Beloved wife of the late John Vander Eyk (2001). Loving mother of Garry (Darlene) Vander Eyk of Listowel, George (Debra) Vander Eyk of Lions Head, Jack (Debbie) Vander Eyk of Listowel and Ken Vander Eyk (Mary Lou) of Hesson. Cherished grandmother of Jody (Ryan) Donegan, Jason (Amanda) Vander Eyk, Kyle Vander Eyk, Shane Vander Eyk (Jessica), Carly (Maarten) van Nuland and Eric Vander Eyk. Great grandmother of 11.
Survived by her sisters Tina Schalk, Jean Roszell, Lukie (Art) DeWaard, her brother John (Jenny) Feddema, sister in laws Henny Feddema, Gerry Feddema, Rose Feddema, Ellen Feddema and Pat Feddema.
Predeceased by her parents Gosse and Theodora Feddema (nee Zylstra), her brothers Pieter (Jytte) Feddema, Ernst Feddema, Bob Feddema, Tom Feddema, Charles Feddema and Pete Feddema, her sisters Alma Heeringa (Ray), Anna (Ted) Rintjema, Edna (Fritz) Nordemann and Louise Boersma (Jerry), her brother in laws Tom Schalk and Jack Roszell.
Margaret was born near Dokkum, The Netherlands on February 24, 1935 and had 14 brothers and sisters. The family immigrated to Canada in 1947 and settled near Kerwood Ontario. She married her husband John on December 12, 1952 and moved to a farm near Watford where they had 4 sons. The family then moved to a dairy farm near Listowel in 1964. After retiring from farming, John and Margaret moved to a new house in Listowel in 1998. They enjoyed many years of travelling to Europe and the USA where they made new friends at the trailer park.
Margaret was an active member of the Listowel Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Listowel Agricultural Society and the Maple Leaf Women’s Institute. She also volunteered at the Listowel Hospital Cradle Club. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, playing cards, bowling, travelling and spending time with her family and friends.
A memorial service will take place at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Listowel on April 17, 2025 at 12 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Perth County Alzheimer’s Society.
