Margaret Elizabeth Flynn (née Hicks), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2024, at the age of 76, after a valiant struggle with cancer. Surrounded by her loving family, “Margie” departed this life at Bowmanville Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of profound kindness and enduring strength.
Born on January 9, 1948, in Listowel, Margie’s life was one of vibrant engagement and selfless contribution. Her resilience in the face of illness was a source of inspiration, her spirit a beacon of hope for all who knew her.
Margie is survived by her husband, Bruce; her devoted son, Jason Kay (Rosa); step-daughter, Jennifer Hill (Kevin); and her adored grandchildren, Justin (Emily), Joshua (Haruka), Jacob, Victoria, and Noah, who brought immense joy and light into her life.
She was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Ruby Hicks of Listowel. Her memory will also be carried forward by her sister, Mary Ellen (John); brother, Harry (Linda); and nieces and nephews, Michael (Lucy), Steven (Bonnie), Peter (Kim), Patricia (Barry), Robert (Sarah), and her many dear friends.
A celebration of Margie’s life is scheduled for Sunday, June 2, 2024, at the Bowmanville Older Adult Association, 26 Beech Ave, Bowmanville, Ontario.. Please feel free to drop in between 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm as we share stories and beautiful memories. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Bowmanville Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society, continuing Maggie’s legacy of supporting those in need.
May “Margie” rest in eternal peace, remembered always for the incredible love and light she brought into the world. Her story inspires us all to live with a little more courage, care a little more deeply, and love without reservation.
