Leonard McIntyre

In loving memory of a wonderful man, Leonard John McIntyre of St. Jacobs who passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 after a long battle with COPD.  Len was born in Hamilton, Ontario, on August 30, 1940.

Len was a loving and loyal husband to his wife Donna Marie (Smith) McIntyre of 62 years.  As dad would often say, we are soulmates, love birds and best friends.  Loving, devoted and dependable father to Sherrie (McIntyre) Goll and the late Jason Goll, and Phil and Tamara McIntyre.

Len had a passion for both fishing and playing pool.  No matter how hard life was, he always managed to make people smile and laugh with his quick wit and sense of humour. Len was a wonderful provider, husband, and father, raising his family in Waterloo, Ontario.

He will always be remembered as his love for his family was as infinite as his stubbornness.  But we couldn’t imagine one without the other.  Dad has our love, respect and admiration for always being there, guiding and supporting those he loved.

Dad, the words ‘you will be forever missed’ just does not capture the level or grief left behind and the hole in my heart.  However this shows the intensity of love felt for you. Dad, you were strong, defiant, loyal, loving, stubborn and genuinely caring and even at 84, a rabble rouser. Go find mom and Jason for me… and I’m sure you will make one memorable first impression in Heaven.. you did with me.  Dad, I will miss our drives listening to my playlist and you singing the Lyrics to ‘I’m Sexy and I Know It’.

We express our deepest gratitude and appreciation to April Allen and the entire staff at St. Jacob’s Place retirement home for their support and loving care for my dad during his stay there. They went above and beyond every single day. They gave my dad a home and family in his final months. Everyone provided myself and my dad with dignity, respect and love during our final journey together.

Memorial donations to Alzheimer’s Society, for my mom, would be appreciated.  Dad would still want to take care of her even in this way.

Breathe deeply and freely Dad and never forget. You’re sexy and you know it.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
