“To have been loved so deeply,
even though the person who loved us is gone,
will give us some protection forever.”
– Albus Dumbledore
Jonathan Zettel had many loves, but none bigger than his family. Jonathan was the loving father of Beatrice, Eloise, Oliver, and James and devoted husband and partner to his wife, Robin.
Jon’s life was built on a foundation of people he loved and those that loved him back. Growing up in a large family of 11, in Pinkerton, ON Jon was surrounded by love and community. His love of life and adventure led him to Toronto where he met Robin, the love of his life.
In their 20 years together, Jon and Robin built a beautiful life together – a life that brought them back to the community Jon loved, where they were able to put down roots and raise their four amazing children. He loved being a father and a husband. Jon and Robin were a good team – balancing each other out.
Jon brought integrity, patience, and kindness to every aspect of his life. He was fair. His love for his wife, children, friends, work and community were strong and felt by all who knew him.
Jon was a brilliant yet humble communicator with a passion for the written word. He was able to craft a career around this magnificent talent, bringing people together through the power of words.
On September 20th, 2023, at the age of 48, Jon lost his battle with cancer. It came on suddenly, he fought hard.
He will be fondly remembered for his wit and humour, love of baseball, love for his family’s Christmases, and will be missed by his two cats – Cyndi Lauper and Luke Skywalker.
Jonathan will be sadly missed by his Zettel9 siblings, his mother Effie Zettel, his sister-in-law, and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues. He is predeceased by his father Thomas Zettel.
“Love is forever.”
Celebration of Life for Jonathan was held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the Chepstow Lion’s Park.
