Predeceased by his parents Henri Marcoux & Angelina (Savoie) Marcoux-Domotor and stepfather Kalman Domotor.
Born and raised in New Brunswick, John made Maple his home where he met his wife, Linda (Lafontaine). They were married in July of 1977, living in Maple, Kitchener, Molesworth, Brussels and finally at retirement moving to Kurtzville to be closer to family.
John worked his entire career as an equipment operator and truck driver. Known for his exceptional skill with equipment and hard work ethic, he was the kind of worker who was never without a job, or a standing job offer. He loved his time in the woods cutting firewood and being in the outdoors with his side-by-side and international loader tractor. But his value as a worker was nothing when compared with his standing as a loving husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, cousin and friend and neighbor. Always quick and ready to lend a helping hand, he fixed more than his fair share of vehicles as many came to park their vehicles on his hoist while he repaired and fixed problem after problem, never accepting a dime for all his labours.
He was known as a teacher by his family as he taught his nephews, nieces and grandchildren how to drive tractors, snowmobiles, field vehicles, 4-wheelers, dirt bikes, dune buggies, and whatever else he might have on the go. But his teaching did not stop there, he taught many how to work hard, fix their own vehicles, take out dents, change engines and transmissions and how to care for equipment
He was loved by all his family who loved to be around his magnetic personality and love for teasing and joking. He will always be remembered for his witty quotes and quips to fit every occasion. His grandchildren loved to be with their papa, work with him and spend time with him as they knew they were fiercely loved by him. His family was his world, and everyone knew it. He will be missed by his first great-grandchild due in December of 2024.
Private family services will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel, on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
Memorial donations to VON or Gorrie Bible Fellowship would be appreciated.
