John Alvin Gilkinson passed away quietly at his home in Listowel, on Sunday, June 23, 2024, in his 80th year.
Husband of Eleanor (Miller) Gilkinson.
Father of Ron Gilkinson of Listowel, Murray Gilkinson & Tammy Coffey of Fordwich, Kim Elg of Listowel, and Bruce Gilkinson & Tawnya Pettitt of Listowel. Grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of 10.
Brother of Dorothy Reddon of Orangeville, Bob & Sandra Gilkinson of Atwood, Phyllis & Ron McCluskie of Donegal, Doug & Joanne Gilkinson of Owen Sound, Ann Oulette of Guelph, Wayne & Sharon Gilkinson of Elmira, and Marion & Peter Anderson of Arthur, and brother-in-law of Kathleen Groff of Gowanstown, Gerald & Cheri Anne Miller of Apalachin, NY, Joyce & Wayne Buchanan of Minesing, Evelyn Miller of Port Elgin, and Lawrence & Shelley Miller of Listowel.
Predeceased by his parents Lloyd & Mary (Hume) Gilkinson, grandson Jordan Gilkinson, siblings Stewart & Beatrice Gilkinson, Norma & George Bradley, Beth & Jim Stone, and Larry & Halina Gilkinson, brothers-in-law George Bradley, and Glen Reddon, and nephew Steven Gilkinson.
A private family service was held at Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 with interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel. A public celebration of John’s life followed at Parkview Gardens (Listowel Legion) from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
