June 23, 1942 – August 20, 2024
It is with profound sadness that the family of John Duncan MacDonald, of Tara, convey to all that knew him, that he passed away at Chapman House, Grey Bruce Hospice, on August 20, 2024, aged 82.
He will be lovingly remembered by sons Dean (Donna), Bryan (Monique) and grandson James. John will also be missed by dear friend Barb and numerous life-long friends, along with nieces, nephews, and other close relatives.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Catherine, of 41 years. Also predeceased by parents Peter and Margaret, brother Jim, and sister Marianna.
John was born in Lucknow and came to Tara in 1963 to work at the Creamery. He set down roots, made a life for himself, and raised a family. He was active in the community, and proudly served on the Tara-Arran Fire Department for 25 years. He valued and understood the importance of service in his community.
As per John’s request, a private family inurnment was held for family and close friends on August 28, 2024, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Tara. A Celebration of Life was held on August 28, 2024, at the Tara Legion, 86 River St, from 12 – 3 p.m.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to all of the staff at the Grey Bruce Hospice, for their exemplary care and compassion.
