Sister of Hennie and Walter Tinholt and Hendrina Lowe. Sister-in-law of Els Dyksterhuis, Henry Dyksterhuis, Peter and Irene Dyksterhuis, Christine and Peter Oosterveld, Debi and Larry Forhan.

Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mom was a sweet, kind and a caring lady to everyone she met and her family was of the utmost importance to her. She would tell you that becoming a Mother in 1958, a Grandmother in 1982 and a Great-Grandmother in 2012 were her greatest accomplishments. We are deeply saddened knowing that she was never able to meet 5 of her 11 Great-Grandchildren due to the Covid restrictions over the last two years. She loved to entertain, her cooking and baking were simply amazing and her expertise at sewing was beyond impressive. We were envied as young girls with our vast array of Barbie Doll clothes from skillfully created matching outfits, to wedding dresses all hand-made and created with love; our dolls were dressed with outfits that would marvel any couture runway design.

A very special over-coat which she sewed for her brother Ralph from fabric that made its way to Canada on the SS Volendam ship with Dad. Always a story intertwined into our fabric of life.

Knitting, crocheting, quilting and her ‘green thumb’ were also skills she mastered effortlessly. She marveled when her glorious Christmas Cactus and Orchid were in full bloom with radiant colour. She also loved to read, music was a presence in her life as was the zest for travel here and abroad and camping. Spending many winters in Florida brought along both warmth and more new acquaintances. She enrolled herself in Driver’s Ed Training in Palmerston to obtain her driver’s license after her 3 eldest had moved on … with plenty of laughs and stories to follow on that subject.

Born in The Netherlands and immigrating to Canada in the 50’s, her native homeland was always closest to her heart and those numerous family members that remained there. Her many visits over the years back to the country and the extended family she loved, truly meant the world to her.

A lifetime member of Knox Presbyterian Church in Palmerston where she took on various roles over the years in the Nursery, Choir, Bible Study Groups, Ladies Auxiliary as well as Sunday School teacher. She would put herself where she was needed.

Mom lived a life of unwavering faith in God and her love for the Lord shone bright upon her.

Diagnosed several years ago with Lewy Body Dementia / Parkinson’s disease; it was something that would not define her and with which she faced with dignity, grace and admiration even though at times not understanding.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Derbecker’s Heritage House for the support and care they provided.

A private family service was held at Heritage Funeral Home, Palmerston on Thursday, April 14th, 2022 with Pastor Nick Pavel of Knox Presbyterian Church officiating, followed by interment in Harriston Cemetery. In Annie’s memory and as expressions of sympathy, donations to the Palmerston Hospital Foundation or the Parkinson’s Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Arrangements entrusted to Heritage Funeral Home, Palmerston.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
