Jeltje ‘Ellie’ Vandergoot, formerly of North Perth, went Home to be with her Lord, at Hillside Manor, Sebringville, on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, in her 82nd year.
Beloved wife of Jurjen Vandergoot, whom she married in 1967.
Caring mother of Petra and Jelly Vandergoot of Holland, Walter and Ella Vandergoot of Atwood, Jacquelien and Bert Meijering of Trowbridge, Jelleke and Frank Sluys of Listowel, and Nienke Vandergoot and Jason Griffith of Listowel.
Special Oma of Jeffrey (Riley), Robin, Toby, Janine, Dennis, Jordy, Julian, Benjamin, Ryan (Rachel), Kimberly (Jordan), Simon, Emily and also Pieter and Owen, both in heaven. Great-Oma of Sydney.
Remembered by family near and far.
Predeceased her parents Pier and Jantina (Katerberg) Leistra, and by her brothers.
Mama grew up in Hoogeveen in the Netherlands. She met papa at a young adult exchange and married soon after.
With their five children they took over the family dairy farm in Ten Post, In 1993 they made the big move to Canada to pursue their dream of farming.
We will remember her as the most loving wife, mama and oma. She loved sitting outside in the sunshine, the smell of flowers and always looked her Sunday-best. She will be forever missed, but we have comfort knowing she is now with her Heavenly Father.
Visitation was held at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Listowel, on Monday, April 25, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The service was live-streamed and the link is available on the church and funeral home websites.
Private family interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
