Mom was born in Palmerston in 1941 and was the second oldest of four children. Her father passed away when she was 14 years old. She suddenly found herself with additional duties helping to care for her two younger siblings. Jayne also had some part-time jobs at various businesses around Palmerston. The story was often told how she climbed out of the window in the girls bathroom at Norwell Highschool during exams, as it turned out that was the end of her school years. She found full-time work at Electrohome in Kitchener and boarded with a school friend until she married Doug. After they were married they moved to the 6th of Wallace where they farmed alongside each other until 1975 when the cows were sold. The farm continued to operate as a Cash crop, hog and veal calf operation. This left a little more time for both mom and dad to take on other part time jobs. Dad started into trucking and mom was hairdressing and also worked in the kitchen of the Midwestern Regional Centre and later at Spinrite. Mom was always quick with a comeback whatever the topic may have been. She got great enjoyment from her flowerbeds, reading, going for walks and having a coffee with friends and family. She battled her demons and always carried on and was determined until the end. She will be loved and missed by all that knew and loved her.
To honour Jayne’s wishes cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held in the spring. Arrangements entrusted to the Heritage Funeral Home, Palmerston.
