It is with great sadness that the family and friends of Janis Maureen Murray announce her passing on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jan was 66 years old. She will be forever remembered for her generous spirit, her sense of vitality, her colourful style, her vivacious laugh, her loyalty to friends and family, and her lifelong commitment to education, fitness, and wellness.
Jan was born in Walkerton, the youngest of eight children born to Wilfrid and Antoinette “Nettie” Murray (nee Albright). She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Guelph in 1978 and continued her education with diplomas in Dance Therapy Studies from York University in 1980 and in Fitness Specialist Training from George Brown College in 1985. After graduating from the prestigious Sutherland-Chan School, she established her Registered Massage Therapy practice in 1995. In 2004, she earned her Osteopath designation from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy & Holistic Sciences.
Janis will be lovingly remembered by her siblings Dennis (Donna), Dianne (Ken), Carol (Roy), Ken (Beverly), David (Ruth), Doug (Mary Anne), and Wilfrid (Arlene), along with numerous nephews and nieces, friends, clients, and the community at the Fairways Condominiums in Mississauga. She is predeceased by her sister Brenda (Brian) and her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held later this year in Mississauga.
