Mary Jean Isabelle Hislop of Wroxeter passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in her 97th year.
Wife of the late George Hislop Jr. Mother of Linda Hislop of Wroxeter, and Donald Hislop of Listowel. Grandmother of Sarah, and great-grandmother of Sierra and Michael. Sister of Edith Quipp of Wingham, and sister-in-law of Bonnie Hislop of Wroxeter. Remembered also by her nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Isabelle was predeceased by her parents Meldrum and Viola (Sharpin) Sanburn, her daughter-in-law Tammy McDowell (2009), son-in-law Kenneth Machan (2016), brothers Charles Sanburn (2008), Jack Sanburn (2015), sisters Mabel Jacklin (2018) and Mae Thorpe (2023), in-laws George and Louisa (Subject) Hislop, and several in-laws and cousins of the Hislop family.
Isabelle was born in Turnberry Township on June 6, 1929, and married George on October 27, 1956. She was a member of the Women’s Institute and the 5-Star Quilt Guide. Visitation was held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Friday, February 20 from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m., where the funeral service was held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Visitation was one hour prior to the funeral, and reception to follow. Spring interment in Wroxeter Cemetery.
