Gwendolyn Agnes (Gardner) Buchanan of Listowel passed away at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Friday, January 30, 2026, in her 85th year.
Wife of the late Mervyn Buchanan (2017). Mother of David Buchanan of Vancouver, B.C. Sister of Doris Childs of Nanaimo, B.C.
Gwen was predeceased by her parents Rev. Arthur and Margaret (McIntosh) Gardner, her father-in-law Alex Buchanan and wife Mae, and by her sister-in-law Verna (Buchanan) Dietrich.
Gwen was born in Bowmanville on June 5, 1941. She and Mervyn were married on August 30, 1963. Gwen was the first Welcome Wagon Hostess in Listowel and volunteered with the VON. She served faithfully as secretary at Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel, for over 30 years.
Gwen enjoyed summers at her cottage on Lake Huron for over 40 years, needlepoint, knitting, and biking.
A private family service will be held, with interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
Memorial donations to Sleeping Children Around the World would be appreciated, and may be made through the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
