Glenys Jean Smith of Listowel, passed away peacefully at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Sunday July 21, 2024 at the age of 73.
Loving mom to Stacey and Patrick Bailey of Listowel, Shawn and Alicia Smith of Ethel, Kaley Smith and Al Pomerant of Toronto, and Cole and Taylor Smith of Ethel. Devoted grandma to Karson, Kai, Blake, Emerson, Ayda, Augie and Kohen. Cherished sister to Pete and Ann Steuernol of Midhurst. Predeceased by her parents Mac Nay and Beryl Steuernol.
Glenys was born in Wingham on May 20, 1951 and grew up outside of Wroxeter. She lived on a farm outside of Atwood for many years, raising four children. In addition to the many tasks on the farm, she especially loved cutting the grass and improving her tan. Glenys was a cherished member of the community. She had a warm welcome to those that came into Chocolates on Main and Life’s A Party. She was a social butterfly and enjoyed connecting with people and sharing stories. We wonder how the local news will continue in her absence. We will miss her love, listening ear and soft heart. Family gatherings will not be the same without her. Her deviled eggs were top notch.
This loss is felt deeply by her family and friends. She made a lasting impression on those she met. Glenys’ family is very grateful for the time and love of those who have helped her and the family during this time. Special thank you to the entire staff at Listowel Memorial Hospital who supported Glenys and her family over the last two months.
