Passed away peacefully on Monday, January 23, 2023, at her residence Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton, just 6 days shy of her 90th birthday. Florence was born in St. Agatha, Ontario, a daughter of the late David and Oleva (Doerr) Ferguson and has been a long-time resident of the Milverton Community.
Loving mother of Philip Westman and his wife Judy, Becky Westman and stepmom of David Sloat.
Cherished and devoted grandmother of Taylor (Taylor), Harley (Cam), Mitchell (Rachel) and Denver (Sheldon). Proud Great-grandmother of Ryker. Florence will be remembered by her sister Helen Zurell
and sister-in-law Diane Ferguson, by the Westman and Sloat families and her many nieces and nephews.
Florence is predeceased and now reunited with her beloved first husband James “Jim” Westman (1984), second husband Harry Sloat (2003), brothers, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law; Roy and Marie Ferguson,
Ken and Alice Ferguson, Larry Ferguson and Bruce Zurell, and by stepdaughter Kelly Sloat.
Florence was a long-time and active member and former Treasurer of St. Paul’s United Church, Milverton. She was a proud Red Hatter and worked alongside her co-workers at the Bank of Nova Scotia for more than 30 years. Florence was passionate about her local sports teams. She was an avid supporter of the Milverton 4 Wheel Drives and the Milverton Suns, being treasurer for both
organizations for many years. Baseball and Hockey were her utmost favourites, and you would often find her cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays from home. She was the number one fan of her children and grand children on the ice or at the ballpark. Above all Florence loved her family dearly and cherished her time with each of them.
Relatives and friends were received at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 7 Spencer Street, Milverton, on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 2 – 4 & again from 6 – 8 p.m. The funeral service took place on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church, Milverton with Pastor Sonja van de Hoef Fraser officiating. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Milverton.
As expressions of sympathy, donations would be accepted to St. Paul’s United Church, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario and can be done through the funeral home.
