Eelke ‘Elmer’ Meinema of Listowel passed away peacefully to be with his Lord and Saviour on Friday, March 21, 2025 at West Perth Village, Mitchell, in his 87th year.
Loving husband of Linda (Klumpenhouwer) Meinema.
Father of Deborah & Hendrik van Wyk of Pretoria, South Africa, Sharon & Derek Bakelaar of Hensall, Sandra & Steve Hiemstra of Mitchell, and Gregory & Yvonne Meinema of Stratford.
Grandfather of Matthew & Jessica Bakelaar, Kristen & Kurtis Goad, Kara & Jesse Millar, Nichole Hiemstra & Irving Casabon-Sosa, Andrew Hiemstra & Brittany Horton, Rachael & Jordan Tingle, Samuel Meinema & Kim Dawe, and Henry Meinema, and great-grandfather of Carter Goad, Miles Goad, and Royce Casabon-Sosa.
Brother of John Meinema, Jake & Anne Meinema, Nell Heim, Peter & Jeanette Meinema, Bob Meinema & Debbie Weiberg, Ron Meinema & Darlene Brooks, Paul Meinema & Myra Potter, and Connie Meinema, and brother-in-law of Teena Meinema, Val Meinema, Ben Klumpenhouwer, Betty & John vanDonkersgoed, Henry & Kathy Klumpenhower, Jane Klumpenhouwer, Judi Klumpenhouwer, Joy & John Harsevoort, Ruby Klumpenhouwer, Tina Klumpenhouwer, and Ed Bell. Loved and remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Jan & Jacoba (Krottje) Meinema, his parents-in-law Linus & Johanna Klumpenhouwer, brothers Clarence and Henry, sister Greta McMullen, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Alfred Heim, Hendrick, John, Jerry, Bill, Theo, and Dick Klumpenhouwer, Evelyn Klumpenhouwer, and Ann Bell.
Visitation will be held at Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Listowel, on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funerals service at 11:00 a.m. The service will be live-streamed, and the link available on the church and funeral home website.
Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
Memorial donations to Ramoth Life Centre, Mount Forest, or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated, and may be made through the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
