Elgin Walter McMurren of Listowel passed away at Knollcrest Lodge on Monday, December 16, 2024, in his 95th year.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Phyllis (Carder) of 68 years and his children Kevin (Helen) McMurren, Dan (Stephanie) McMurren, and Brian (Donna) McMurren.
He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Devin (Michelle) McMurren, Tamara (Cory) Kaminski, Jordan (Jacquelyn) McMurren, Matthieu McMurren, Britney McMurren (Reza Pour), and Michael McMurren (Kathryn Chalmers).
Great-grandfather to Kobie, Kane, Levi, Hailey, Kade, and Nash.
Dear Brother of Audrey Stanley, David (Joanne) McMurren, Victor (Pat) McMurren.
Elgin was Predeceased by his parents Walter & Wilma, sisters Joy and Gail, and brothers Bill (Vera), Don (Rena), John, Nelson, Steve (Ruby), Doug (Marie), Roy, Clayton and brother-in-law Harold Stanley. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who have great memories of Uncle Mick.
Elgin, the 5th of 14 children, was born on July 4, 1930 on the McMurren farm in Woodslee, Ontario. Elgin began his working career with the bank in Windsor which eventually brought him and Phyllis to Listowel in 1960.
Mick had a great sense of humour. He enjoyed conversations, meeting new people and traveling to visit many good friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or open his home to someone in need. His friendship will be truly missed!
A private family funeral service will be held at Listowel Salvation Army Citadel on Saturday, December 28, 2024 with interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
Memorial donations to Listowel Salvation Army or Milverton Knollcrest lodge would be appreciated.
