Doug Smith of Atwood passed away suddenly at his home on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at the age of 66.
Beloved husband of 24 years to Lorell Smith. Loving father of Dave Hodges (Carrie), Angie (Steve) Cameron and Jason Smith. Cherished grandfather of Eathan, Jessie, Jenasta, Travis, Brooke, Ryder, Cali and Alex.
He will be missed by his siblings Diane (Al) Darroch, David (Cathy) Smith, Darlene (Tom) Bowes. Special friend Wendy Butcher.
Predeceased by his parents Garnet and Doreen Smith. Doug was a passionate and proud truck driver and will be remembered for his hard work ethic. He was an avid camper and loved his many adventurous travels. He was always offering a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
His nurturing and positive attitude helped him and his family through his battle with cancer.
He will be missed by all who knew him. Friends and family were received at a visitation at the Brenneman Funeral Home in Atwood on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Visitation continued at Elma Memorial Community Centre in Atwood on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM.
Pastor Brian “Stewie” Hymers will be conducting the service. Interment at Elma Centre Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or London Health Science Centre Foundation.
