Don Bateman was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was well-respected in his community and made many good friends over the years. He spent over 35 years working for Campbell Soup in various managerial positions and had 35 years of service to the Presbyterian Church.
After retirement, Don took up flying and even bought his own single-engine plane. He also spent time traveling with his wife to many locations around the world, including Australia and New Zealand, Ireland, and Hawaii. Charity work was also important to Don. He was a driver for cancer patients and was involved with the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star for many years. Don’s pastimes involved fishing, playing cards and tinkering around the house. There wasn’t a problem that he couldn’t solve and there wasn’t a repair that he couldn’t successfully tackle.
