Dennis Bross

Dennis John Bross of Listowel passed away suddenly as the result of an accident, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, in his 72nd year.

Loving husband of Mary-Lou (Haelzle) Bross for 50 years on August 31st.

Father of Stacey Bross of Listowel, Tammy & Nigel Beirnes of Listowel, Laura & Kyle Cressman of Gowanstown, and Mary-Lynn & Ken Heimpel of Fordwich.

Grandpa of Jaxson, Alyssa, Waide and Natalie Beirnes; Jensyn, Deklyn, Maisy, Beckett and Delaney Cressman; Rylan, Jayla, Lincoln and TeAnna Heimpel.

Brother of Gerry & Donna Bross, Rick & Deb Bross, Anne & Bob Dietz, Chip & Susan Bross, Dan & Linda Bross, Jeff & Sharon Bross, Tim & Paula Bross, all of Mildmay, Paulette & Ted Borodenko of Calgary, and Joan & Kevin Lair of Walkerton.

Brother-in-law of Dan & Sandy Brown of Winnipeg, Marlene Bross-Durrer & Doug Durrer of Formosa, and Carol & Art Huber, Gary & Dorothy Haelzle, Sharon & John O’Malley, Jeanne Haelzle & Bob McAlister, and MaryAnn Haelzle, all of Kitchener, Barb & Gary Huber of Moorefield, Janet & Jim McDonald of Listowel, Judy Haelzle of Barrie, and Judy Haelzle of Teeswater.

Predeceased by his daughter Julie Mary Bross, son-in-law Rick Barker, parents Bill & Florence (Reinhardt) Bross, parents-in-law Frank & Alice (Durrer) Haelzle, his siblings, Harry Bross, Mary Brown, & Mike Bross, Godchild Susie Bross, and by his brothers-in-law Dennis, Doug, Chip, and Bob Haelzle.

Dennis was born to dairy farmers Bill & Florence Bross in rural Mildmay on Oct. 28, 1952. In grade 12 he fell in love with Mary-Lou at her first high school dance. They were married in 1974 and would be celebrating 50 years on Aug. 31. They bought their farm on the third of Wallace in April 1979. Dennis and Mary-Lou raised their 4 daughters on the farm. Dennis worked as a plumber at Weishar’s until starting D&D Plumbing and Heating in 1980. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, four-wheeling and playing cards, with a passion for farming.

Dennis worked hard but played just as hard, creating many lasting memories with friends and family.

Visitation was held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Listowel, on Monday August 5th from 1:00 until 5:00 p.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with reception that followed in the church hall. The service was live-streamed and the link  is available on the funeral home website.
