It is with the deepest of sadness that we must announce the passing of the strongest man we ever knew. The one that never choose to give up and fought a long and lengthy battle with kidney disease from childhood, but skin cancer, and later lung cancer. Dean Anthony Diemert of Mildmay passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton. Dean was 62 years old.
He leaves behind his wife Jennifer (nee Campbell), his beloved son Daimien “Buck”, the family dog, Nitro, and the rest of the critters in his barn.
Dean is survived by his siblings Dan and Leona Diemert and Dale “Fly” and Jackie Diemert, both of Alberta, Dawn Cheryl “Mugs” Diemert and Chuck Gaeler of Cargill, Duane “Tiger” and Jennifer Diemert, and sister-in-law Cathy Netterfield, both of Wingham. He will be dearly remembered by his wife’s family, mother-in-law Margaret Ann Campbell of Kitchener, brother-in-law to James Campbell of Mexico, and Julie and Randall Thaxter of Kitchener.
Dean was an amazing, fun-loving teacher and mentor to his many nieces and nephews. He carried on with his jokes and antics when the great nieces and nephews came along and will be deeply missed by his many cousins on both sides of his family, past and present.
Predeceased by his brother Darren “Peanuts” Diemert, parents Donald and Angeline (nee Grubb) Diemert, and father-in-law Gordon Campbell.
Friends and relatives were invited to visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Cameron’s in Walkerton.
Celebration of Dean’s life and legacy was held following the service at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Walkerton. People were asked to join for drinks and lunch. As a tribute to Dean, he had asked that everyone attending any of the services wear plaid or checkered shirts with jeans.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to Kidney Foundation or London Health Sciences Foundation would be appreciated. Donations and condolences may be made online at www.cameronfuneralhomes.com
