Brenda Elaine (Mayberry) Bartmann of Listowel, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, in her 70th year. Brenda was born on April 26, 1955, to the late Almer and Margaret (Wright) Mayberry, Brenda’s life was one of love, care, and devotion to her family.
She was the loving wife of the late Dale Bartmann (2011) and the cherished mother of Darryl and Tina Bartmann of Elmira. Brenda is predeceased by her beloved son, Christopher Bartmann (2002), whom she held in her heart every single day. Her greatest joy came from being “Grannie” to her grandchildren, Cooper and Lexi Bartmann, whom she adored beyond measure. She took immense pride in watching them grow, excel in school, and shine when playing sports. Brenda never missed the chance to cheer them on and was always their loudest and proudest supporter.
Brenda’s love for her boys, Darryl and Chris, was beyond measurable. She found deep pride in their many accomplishments and found immense joy watching Darryl and Tina build their beautiful family. She was a tremendous caregiver, showing strength and compassion for both Dale and Chris when they needed her most. Her devotion and selflessness during those difficult times was a testament to the depth of her love.
Brenda’s heart for service extended far beyond her family. She worked for many years as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) at Listowel Memorial Hospital. Outside of work, Brenda found peace and joy in her garden, as it became her sanctuary. Animals were another passion; Brenda’s home was always open to furry friends and she adored dogs the most.
Brenda will be lovingly remembered by Douglas & Linda Mayberry, Raymond & Christine Mayberry, Dennis & Janice Mayberry, Sharon & Luke Drost, Darlene Dittmer, Yvonne Gardiner, Allan & Theresa Loughran, Pat Mayberry, and Wenda Bartman & Elva Budgell. Brenda was also a devoted aunt to many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her. She is predeceased by her sister Karen Loughran, brothers James and Gordon, sister-in-law Carolyn Mayberry, brothers-in-law Douglas Dittmer and Donald “Jake” Bartman, and step-brother-in-law Richard Wilfong
Visitation was held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Rev. James Clark officiated. Reception followed in the church hall. Spring interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Brenda’s memory can be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society, causes close to her heart, and may be made through Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
While Brenda will be deeply missed, there is comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her beloved husband Dale and her son Chris. Brenda will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
