Brenda Ann Matthews of Listowel passed away quietly at her home on Friday, June 21, 2024 in her 66th year.
Wife of Bill Vinen.
Mother of Missy McGrath of Listowel, Joey Matthews of Wingham, Bobby Harbach of Wingham, and Amanda & Dilan Boisvert of Elmira, and step-mother of Mandy & Jason Sproat of Port Elgin, Leanne & Brian Verkley of Pickering, and Joe Vinen of Listowel.
Grandmother of AJ McGrath, Taylor Lang, Victoria Robinson, Zach Robinson, Ellie Richardson, Emma Matthews, and Rayar Kendry and great-grandmother of Beau Lang, and Theodore Boisvert.
Sister of Bonnie Hart of Kitchener, and Dennis & Sue Matthews of Medicine Hat, AB.
Brenda was a dedicated mother and partner, devoted worker and lover of nature. She grew up in lower town Wingham before eventually settling in Listowel later in life. Here she earned respect for her diligence, warmth and friendly banter in her career as a server. As a proud mother of four, Brenda instilled strong values of hard work and compassion in her children.
She found joy in tending her flowerbeds and cherished being outdoors. Brenda was also an avid scrabble player known among friends and family for her sharp mind and competitive spirit. Her meticulous attention to detail, whether in crafting the perfect word on the scrabble board, or in the pristine condition of her household, was a hallmark of her character.
Brenda’s legacy is one of dedication, love and kindness. Her contributions to her family and her community left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Her memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Brenda’s life will be held at Parkview Gardens (Listowel Legion) on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with words of remembrance at 2:00 p.m.
Memorial donations to Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated, and may be made through the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel.
