Betty Thalen (Ruiter) of Listowel went home to be with her Lord and Saviour surrounded by her
loving family on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 in her 76th year. Beloved wife of Hank Thalen for 56 years. Loving mother of Alice and James Visser of Palmerston, Jake and Lori Thalen of Cameron, Henry and Cindy Thalen of Tara, Corrina and Jeff Duimering of Drayton, Jennifer and Bruce Rumph of Moorefield, Judy and Steve DeWeerd of Alma, Tim and Michelle Thalen of Palmerston and Rita and Allan Rumph of Alma. She was a beloved Oma to her grandchildren Esther, Allison (Tom), Michelle (Jonah), Anthony; Brittany, Taylor, Madison, Jacob (Lucy); Bryden (Vanessa), Branson, Kyla, Jayden; Riley (Erin), Jenna (Perry), Kirsten; Brandy (Ewoud), Darian (Todd), Reeghan, Lucas, Hunter; Jasmine (Ian), Josh (Naomi), Jocelyn (Jake); Lincoln, Liberty, Emerson; Mariah (Matt), Kamryn (Michael), Sawyer and Sydney. Great Oma of Bennett, Nora, Saskia, Reiner, Tys, Maeve, Stetson, Myla, Colt. Sister and sister-in-law Jane (Rick), Shelley, Lucy (Frank), Tina (Duane), Henry (Joanne), Wendy, Richard (Lisa). Fondly remembered by the Thalen family, nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her parents John and Alice Ruiter, granddaughter Kristen and brothers Clarence and Peter.
The family received friends at the Drayton Christian Reformed Church, Drayton on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. A private family interment took place in the Drayton Cemetery prior to the funeral service.
The funeral service was held in the Drayton Christian Reformed Church on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 2:30 p.m.
