Ann Bolton of Walkerton passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27, 2024, at Brightshores Health System – Southampton, in her 90th year.
Beloved wife of Mac and mother to Michael (Pauline Avery) and Paul (Heather), both of Port Elgin. Ann cherished her grandchildren, Sheena (Adam), Zachary (Christina), Jacob, Ella, Augustus, and great-grandchildren Charles and Victoria.
She will be fondly remembered by her brother Michael (Brenda) Taylor of Kent, England.
Ann was born in Kent, England, on February 21, 1935. She trained as a nurse in Farmborough, England, and a midwife in Scotland.
She and three friends came to Newfoundland in 1960 to start their nursing careers in Canada sponsored by the Newfoundland government. The four eventually moved to Collingwood in 1960 where Ann met Mac.
They were married in England on July 28, 1962, and settled in Markdale to start their lives together. Ann worked as a nurse in Markdale but left nursing to raise her sons Michael and Paul.
The family moved to Walkerton in 1970 where they raised their family and have remained close to the community ever since. Ann was an active curler. She was involved at St. Paul’s United Church and was a clinic coordinator for many years for the Red Cross blood donor clinics.
Ann returned to work later in life as a dedicated nurse in Dr. RJ Creighton’s family practice in Walkerton.
Predeceased by her aunt Winnie and daughter-in-law Abby.
A private memorial service will be held at Cameron’s in Walkerton.
