Adriaan Gerardus Zyta of Listowel passed away at Listowel Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in his 87th year.
Husband of Yvonne (Ferguson) Zyta.
Father of Jim & Lisa Zyta of Britton, Dirk & Lisa Zyta of Gowanstown, Susan & Andrew Flowers of Dublin, and David & Louise Zyta of Wellesley.
Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren and 2 great-step-grandchildren.
Brother of John Zyta of Atwood, Levina & Bob Yule of Listowel, Aggie Orth of Listowel, and Nella Zyta & Jim McLean of Wingham, and brother-in-law of Karen Zyta of Listowel, and Bev Holt of Glencoe.
Predeceased by his grandson Zachary Zyta, sister Greta Smith, and brother Dirk Zyta.
Adriaan came to Canada in 1953 from the Netherlands. Most of his life he farmed with his wife and family on the sixth of Elma. In his retirement he continued to farm along with assisting with rides for people to appointments and errands.
He was very creative and knowledgeable, building several trailers and greenhouses over the years. His green thumb showed through in his gardens and many projects.
Adriaan could always be seen traveling with his dog Bert or Bertha wherever he went. Adriaan will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humour that he shared with many.
Visitation will be held at the Eaton Funeral Home, Listowel on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Listowel on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
The service will be live-streamed.
Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Listowel.
Memorial donations to the Stratford Humane Society would be appreciated.
