WINGHAM – A resident of North Huron is facing impaired driving charges following an incident that took place in Wingham on St. Patrick’s Day.
At approximately 8:18 a.m. on March 17, Huron County OPP and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a parking lot located on Josephine Street for a report of an unconscious person in a vehicle.
EMS and police arrived on scene and spoke with the driver. According to police, the investigating officer “quickly realized the driver had been consuming alcohol and his ability to drive was impaired.” As such, the driver was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP detachment for breath tests.
Police say the driver provided two breath samples to the intoxilizer technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit.
Jacob Coultes, 22, from North Huron has been charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus and operation while prohibited.
The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 9 in Goderich.
