North Perth Fire Department responds to CO alarm, Sept. 28

North Perth Fire Department personnel responded to the Smith Market Square in Listowel on Thursday, Sept. 28 shortly after 8 a.m. after elevated carbon monoxide levels were detected in the building. Fire Chief Janny Pape says the elevated levels “are suspected to be related to a battery on a forklift.” Crews cleared the scene around 11 a.m. The fire department would like to remind residents that carbon monoxide alarms are required in residential buildings with fuel-burning appliances, in certain service rooms, and in occupancies where a storage garage is located within the same building.
