BIOGRAPHY
I am a lifelong resident of North Perth, who is raising four teenage daughters, while continuing to grow my small business. Over the past 12 years, I have been an active councillor representing the Elma Ward, trying to assist residents, business owners and agricultural producers by being a common sense voice around the council table. This has allowed me the privilege of sitting on the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority board, which I am currently chair, member of the drainage committee and currently the third representative to Perth County council. I continue to advocate small town values while balancing the need for growth in our community. I decided to put my name forward for re-election, because I believe that a common sense voice is needed to help shape the future of North Perth.
ISSUES
There are many issues facing North Perth which will greatly be shaped by these election results. One of the largest challenges facing North Perth is managing the exponential growth we are experiencing while tackling issues such as traffic congestion, homelessness and prioritizing infrastructure and resources to ensure a healthy, safe community.
I believe in working with staff on issues like the truck bypass, however I realize the need to stop studying it and move forward with shovels in the ground. We need to better engage all levels of government to help combat homelessness through co-operative solutions to the vulnerable residents. Budget dollars are tight and we need to continue to challenge staff to secure grants/partnerships and other out-of-the-box funding ideas to move North Perth forward. If re-elected, I will continue to be a co-operative, common sense voice working towards cost-effective solutions for the benefit of all North Perth residents.
