BIOGRAPHY
I was born and raised in the former Yugoslavia, and became involved in the political life there until I had learned that the corruption in that system couldn’t be eradicated from within because everyone that I had met in positions that could have made any difference was a party to it.
BIGGEST ISSUE
I see the abuse of people’s rights in trampling of provincial and federal laws through laziness, ignorance, arrogance, incompetence, bullying and corrupt conduct as the most important issue in North Huron. Dictatorship is not what the Constitution is advocating or promulgating.
Previous and present administrations did not have any qualms about prosecuting people with false and fabricated charges, or under non-existent sections of a provincial statute in retribution for not bowing to their abuses (Court file CV-19-00000003-0000 and CV22-00000068-0000).
Nor did they have any misgivings about forcing corrupt AG4 interpretation in zoning bylaws down the people’s throats.
There is no transparency or accountability and no one in this administration sees any problem with that. The policy that prevents people from criticizing the administration is an infringement on freedom of speech. Interestingly, the Reeve does not feel that he is bound by that same policy and allows himself to describe people he does not agree with in derogatory terms.
Government is supposed to represent the people and enact only bylaws that are considered necessary and desirable by the people. That idea had not been identifiable in bylaws that are on books in North Huron. One bylaw presently being used these days only allows for compliance, without any form of appeal or dissent. Another bylaw establishes administration as the prosecutor, judge and jury.
Present system does not sanction public participation through the policy enacted by the Reeve banning any criticism, and further restricted by the requirement that submissions be made by Wednesday while the public has no idea of what is going to be on the next meeting’s agenda until Friday evening. Publishing a draft agenda a week before would give people time to decide and prepare a presentation if they want to, which can lead to exchange of thoughts on the subject and new ideas.
Also, in the present system the CAO and Reeve can ignore any presentation they dislike without any transparency, and as a result no accountability. That approach can only foster dictatorship tendencies and desires. Any and all decisions need to be transparent and published for everyone to see and question if they have a reason to disagree with.
