North Huron reeve candidate: Paul Heffer

BIOGRAPHY

My name is Paul Heffer and I am running for the position of Reeve for the Township of North Huron. I have lived with my wife, Gail, in Wingham for 42 years where we were fortunate to be able to raise our three daughters.

In my current role as council member for North Huron, I have chaired the museum committee, and sat on the source water protection steering committee and the Alice Munro committee. I have worked 37 years in the agricultural service sector in Huron County, and am actively involved in the family farm. I have coached and refereed various minor sports for many years, and currently assist with the Horticultural and Wingham Trail Committee.

BIGGEST ISSUE

North Huron needs to prepare for future asset management needs. In the next 10 years, 24 per cent of our assets need to be replaced or upgraded. We must streamline our services and find efficiencies in order to contribute to our future needs. As a small municipality we must foster better working relationships with our neighbouring municipalities and work collaboratively together whenever possible for future projects.

I am confident that my experiences in the community and the relationships I have forged make me the suitable choice for Reeve for the Township of North Huron.

If elected, I look forward to serving you to the very best of my ability.
