BIOGRAPHY
I was born and raised on a farm just outside of Blyth. I have three brothers. I attended East Wawanosh SS#10 until 1967, when the public school was built in Blyth.
I attended F.E. Madill Secondary School, and my post-secondary education was a five-year apprenticeship program through George Brown College. I attended classes at George Brown and the hours needed to complete my steamfitter apprenticeship were done at Bruce Power, formally known as Douglas Point.
I have worked in many locations, as that is very common in the trades. When working in the trade I am working through Local 527.
I was the reffing chief for broomball for over 20 years for the central west division, and was the provincial reffing chief for four years. I have had the privilege to ref all over Canada. I have been an active member of Legion Branch 180 in Wingham for 27 years and have held a position on the executive for many years.
My wife Marilyn and I will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary in March 2023.
We have four children and 10 grandchildren and are very fortunate that they all live close by.
BIGGEST ISSUE
Being a father and a grandfather, I worry about what the future holds for the younger generations.
We must work together to find a way to maintain our existing structure and grow on it as a community – start talking and looking around to other centres that are drawing the business and industry to their area and work on that for North Huron.
We must continue the progress with affordable housing. This is starting; we must push that along as quickly and efficiently as possible and together this goal can be achieved.
We must find ways to help our downtown core recruit staff and find a way to help them pay a living wage to keep employees at the jobs. My main goal is to work together to continue to have North Huron grow and be a great community to live in work in and raise a family in.
