New seats for Victoria Jubilee Hall volunteers

WALKERTON – Brian Weber, owner of Weber Electrical, has just donated a dozen theatre seats to replace the old stacking chairs at the back of the Victoria Jubilee Opera Hall.

Those chairs are reserved for the volunteers who work at the shows.

The old chairs were considered to be a hazard in the evacuation of the theatre, and the new ones, fixed to the floor, pop up by themselves.

Brian is a collector of interesting things. He acquired the seats a few years ago, when they had only been in use for two years. New, they cost over $400 each. It did not occur to him that they might be of use to Victoria Jubilee Hall until he was in the theatre rewiring the big chandelier.

“I couldn’t believe how well they matched the rest of the seats in there. It was kind of obvious that they belonged here.” said Weber.

The Victoria Jubilee Hall committee agreed, and quickly got them installed in time for the MudMen concert.
