In this time of Christmas cheer, family gatherings and all the glitter that goes with it, my thoughts drift to those suffering during this Christmas season.
In a perfect world, there would be no suffering and no sadness, and everybody would have someone to share the holidays with, but we all know that doesn’t happen.
So, this Christmas wish goes out to all alone this season, maybe for the first time, trying to get through without someone you love.
I wish you the best Christmas you can have. If you miss a loved one, I pray you find comfort knowing they are with you in spirit.
That moment when a favourite song you shared comes on the radio, and you find yourself immersed in memories, relish in those thoughts, for memories keep them alive forever in your mind.
When you feel you can’t go on, return to Christmas’s past, find an old photo or a cherished gift received and remember the warmth of their touch. The love you shared is not gone; it has become a warm and fuzzy memory.
Put your favourite photo on an empty chair at the table and talk to your loved one. Share your thoughts, feelings, and sadness at losing them with them. It won’t bring them back, but you will feel closer to them.
Remember that although they are not here with you in this world, they are still with your spirit; in your heart, you will never forget the love you shared, and until you meet again, you can cherish those memories.
Remember that they are with the ancestors now, watching over you, protecting you, loving you from beyond a thin veil that separates us from the spirit world.
Please know that you are included in my prayers to the Creator to send comfort and healing to your tender heart this Christmas season. May you find peace and love.
Christmas comes but once a year but the memory of your love will last forever. May your memories provide you peace and love today and every day.
