PERTH COUNTY – One person has been charged following a death investigation in Perth County.
On Oct. 20, 2021, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), and with the assistance of the Stratford Police Service, commenced an investigation into a death that occurred in Perth County in 1985. The victim has been identified as Meghan Thompson, who was 25 days old at the time of her death.
Katherine Thompson, 62, of St. Marys, has been charged under section 214(5)(e) of the 1985 Criminal Code with first-degree murder. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
As this is an ongoing investigation, the OPP can release no further details at this time.
