Hello to all the constituents of the Municipality of Morris-Turnberry.
Most of you know me as Sharen Zinn, your councillor from 2014-2018 and your deputy mayor from 2018-2022. I grew up in Wingham. I own property and lived in Morris-Turnberry for 43 years. I worked 20 years at the Wingham & District Hospital, eight years as a real estate administrator, and I now enjoy working for Community Living Wingham and District and being deputy mayor for Morris-Turnberry. I started in politics in 2014 with very little knowledge on how it all worked; I just wanted to be a voice for the people with some common sense. With your support I have gained a lot of valuable knowledge over these past eight years by serving as your councillor and as your deputy mayor. I sit on the human resources committee, doctor recruitment, Brussels Medical Building, and in the past the Chip Committee and Farm Safety Committee.
ISSUES
My passion as your councillor has always been the people’s concerns. My door has always been open to discuss your issues and get you the answers you needed by working with our very efficient municipal staff along with strong councils and mayors over the past eight years. The next four years will be challenging. The pandemic has changed the way we will need to do business. Shortage of housing, homelessness, inflation, our health care system, and our history divide with our neighbours, just to mention a few of the issues. We need to look for new opportunities going forward. Maintaining our assets in good repair is crucial. I believe having a good asset management plan in place and followed is the way to set the path for future generations to thrive in Morris-Turnberry, and for the betterment of our municipality. Morris-Turnberry’s asset management plan is an ongoing document that will keep our municipality on track. As a leader, I am committed to professionalism, transparency and collaboration in government. Working together in these trying times we will overcome these new challenges and continue to move and grow Morris-Turnberry forward as we have in the past. I have always said I will do my best for the people of Morris Turnberry, but in these difficult times we all must do better then our best, for our future. I am ready to get started. Vote Zinn on Oct. 24.
