Morris-Turnberry council candidate: Jodi Snell

BIOGRAPHY

I was born and raised in Huron County. After obtaining my legal assistant diploma and beginning my career path I moved back to Huron County and worked in various sectors in provincial government and local health care. Just over five years ago I decided to begin the endeavour in my dream career and have been working at a real estate agent for the last four years. My husband of 23 years, my two daughters, and my two dogs enjoy what rural living in Morris-Turnberry has to offer.

Through my previous employment working for the provincial government, I gained knowledge as to how federal, provincial and municipal governments operate. In addition to this, my current role as a REALTOR requires constant contact with municipal offices, and an understanding of the internal workings of municipalities including zoning, bylaw interpretation, RFP processes, etc.

I have volunteered for Hospice, coached my kids sports teams, and currently sit as a board member for the Huron Chamber of Commerce and North Perth Chamber of Commerce, and as the federal political advisor for the Huron Perth Association of REALTORS, which requires frequent contact with local MPs and MPPs.

If elected, I plan to treat my position as councillor the same as I do in my real estate career – to truly listen to the ratepayers of Morris-Turnberry, and to provide a responsive, transparent, honest and personable service. My knowledge and experiences within my community, fuel my enthusiasm and desire to make the community the best it can be.

ISSUES

I did not put my name forward to run for a councillor for one major issue. Over the last few weeks, while out speaking with individuals, I have heard concerns regarding animal control, road construction, development, relationships with neighbouring municipalities/townships, zoning, taxes, etc. What I am offering to ratepayers is to truly listen to their concerns, be a voice at the council table, be someone not afraid to ask questions, and work to find solutions. Will the solution please everyone? Of course not. But what I can promise is to bring concerns forward, try to find a solution that is in the best interest of the majority of ratepayers, and to offer as much transparency as possible throughout the process.
