Mischief charge laid near Listowel after rock thrown at cruiser

NORTH PERTH – On May 23 at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a mischief on Line 84 in Municipality of North Perth.

A Perth County OPP officer was on general patrol on Perth Road 164 south of Listowel, when a person was observed walking along the highway. The pedestrian was acting erratically and stepped into the live lane of traffic towards the police cruiser. During the interaction with the officer, a large rock was thrown at the cruiser.

Joshua DeHaan, 27, of no fixed address, has been charged with mischief – interfere with lawful use, enjoyment, or operation of property – under $5,000, and causing a disturbance.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
