Over the past couple of weeks, several classrooms at Sacred Heart School in Mildmay were painting ‘Poppy Rocks’ with Mrs. Price in their library program. Members of Walkerton Legion will soon place the rocks on the graves of veterans in St. Matthew’s Lutheran Cemetery and Sacred Heart Cemetery in Mildmay. Researchers have identified 36 veterans buried in those two cemeteries, but organizers are expecting family members will come forward to identify additional burials. Work is ongoing to also identify veteran burials in St. Paul’s United Church Cemetery, Mildmay.
