Not even a snow squall could stop the annual Hanging of the Green in Mildmay on Nov. 28, as the streets were full of community members and holiday cheer to celebrate the start of the Christmas season. Starting at 5 p.m., stalls of the Bavarian market were open for people to peruse, either under tents or inside stores. Several stations serving free hot chocolate and cider could be found along the sidewalks of main street, and a long line of eager children waited to tell Santa their wishes. Thanks to the Mildmay-Carrick Firefighters, attendees could stay warm around fire pits, listening to students from Mildmay Carrick Public School carol on the post office steps. At 7:30 p.m. the parade started, with creative floats and candy canes being thrown to those who watched. On the way home people could see the lights set up on houses around town. (Emily Bowen photo)
