MILDMAY-CARRICK – With only three months until the big weekend of Aug. 3-7, the Mildmay-Carrick Homecoming 2023 Committee held their regular meeting on Tuesday, April 25.
After the reading of the minutes and the treasurer’s report, updates were heard from the various committees.
Chair Melinda Koebel reported that there will be a Car and Bike Show on Sunday. They will be handing out flyers at area shows inviting participants to join us on Civic Holiday weekend.
A list of the special events was presented by Chair Jake Lantz, including a golf tournament and bed races, to name a few. Registration information is now available on the website at mildmaycarrickhomecoming.ca, and will continue to be updated. Any inquiries should be sent to events2023@mildmaycarrickhomecoming.ca.
The Decorating Committee has been busy making bows, which are now available for purchase at Mildmay Freshmart. The committee encourages residents to incorporate the Homecoming colours when planting flowerbeds. Let’s paint the town purple and yellow.
Watch for the Homecoming Float to be out and about promoting the weekend. And speaking of floats, if you haven’t already, get your family and friends together and start planning your Saturday parade entry today. Registration can be done online or forms are available at Liesemer’s Home Hardware.
Festivities will begin on Thursday, Aug. 3, with the Homecoming Pageant.
Committee member Tina Kraemer was on hand to let everyone know that the application deadline had now passed and there is lots of interest. What a great way to start a fabulous weekend.
Sponsorship Committee member Julia Gutscher gave a report on the total received from our amazing sponsors to date. There is still time to be a sponsor of this community event. Visit mildmaycarrickhomecoming.ca/sponsorship.
Chair Carrie-Lynn Weber advised that they are planning entertainment and a card party for “The Lounge”, a place to meet for the “Young at Heart.” It will be located in the Upper Viewing Room in the arena.
The Souvenir Store, located at Schuett’s Furniture warehouse at 94 Elora St., Mildmay, will continue to be open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. You can also email the committee to make an appointment or place an order online at mildmaycarrickhomecoming.ca. Help to promote this awesome event by wearing your Homecoming apparel on Fridays!
The weekend food and dance packages are selling well. Single event and meal tickets are also now available. All packages and single tickets can be purchased online only by credit card. Check out the website for all the details.
