‘Memories of the Monarchs’ tribute at upcoming junior hockey tilt

In the early 1950s, Mildmay Monarchs hockey offence was distributed through several forward lines, including the trio of Don McAlpine, Gerald “Beamer” Borho and Jim Kunkel. McAlpine and Kunkel were Mildmay residents, while Borho lived in the valley village of Formosa. McAlpine now resides in London, while his linemates have passed away. (Photo courtesy Morris Schmalz)
