WALKERTON – A comfort bench, donated by the family of Eldon Yundt and overlooking the Saugeen River near the bottom of South Street in Walkerton, has been vandalized and the memorial plaque stolen.
Yundt was a co-founder of the Saugeen River Trail, and was an engineer with Bruce County between 1955 and 1991, making him one of Bruce County’s longest- serving employees.
The development of the Saugeen River trail system between 1992 and 1996 is one of his lasting legacies to the town of Walkerton, which he loved.
