Drifting snow and an accumulation of ice played a major factor on roads on Dec. 19. Treacherous road conditions had drivers slowing to a crawl along Line 86 in the late afternoon when a tractor trailer travelling westbound towards Listowel from Dorking crossed the eastbound lane and jackknifed into the ditch, missing oncoming traffic. The driver was unharmed. A large tow truck and three police cars reached the scene to safely retrieve the rig and tend to traffic, which was backed up both ways. (Owen Bylsma photo)
