Looking for young entrepreneurs

BRUCE COUNTY – For youth in Bruce County, starting a summer business may be the right fit for their next big idea. And to make a business reality, consider Summer Company.

Applications are now open for Bruce County’s Summer Company Program, helping youth, ages 15 to 29, kick off a new summer business with $3,000 in funding for successful applicants.

“Young people are the future of small businesses in Bruce County. We encourage all youth to consider building a business this summer with help from the Summer Company program. It’s the perfect opportunity to save up for post-secondary school while also building a foundation for the future,” said Chris Peabody, Bruce County warden.

The Summer Company program, a partnership between the county and Ontario, offers a chance for youth to try out a future in entrepreneurship – not to mention, a small business showcases leadership skills and initiative in a way a report card can’t.

“Our team offers a wide range of supports to get the business up and running,” said Jeffrey Loney, manager of economic development at Bruce County. “We look forward to mentoring the next generation of entrepreneurs.”

For anyone interested in this program, please contact Jenelle Bannon, business development coordinator with Bruce County, at jbannon@brucecounty.on.ca or 226-930-0099. Bannon will assist with the online application, including a business plan and cash flow projections.
