WALKERTON - As the deadline draws closer for completion of the 2026 Bruce County budget, Mayor Chris Peabody is expressing concerns about one element in it – the $72,000 earmarked for homelessness through the Community Safety and Wellbeing Plan. 

Dear Editor: Anita Jacobson and the Coalition to Repeal Bill 5 are right to sound the alarm about what’s been done to Ontario’s Endangered Species Act.

OWEN SOUND - Premier Doug Ford’s government has tabled legislation that would ban speed cameras, as part of a bill aimed at reducing red tape. Ford has called use of the cameras a “cash grab” for municipalities.

BROCKTON - On Oct. 20, South Bruce OPP received a report that a pickup truck had been stolen from a property on Sideroad 25 North, Brockton.

WALKERTON - Staffing at Bruce County’s long-term care homes continues to be a challenge, as it is right across the province, according to the operations report presented to Bruce County’s Long-Term Care Committee of Management on Oct. 16.
