LISTOWEL – For the second year in a row, the Listowel BIA (Discover Listowel) presented a concert in Memorial Park featuring home-grown violinist, Sarah Pratt.
Over 100 people enjoyed the beautiful weather and setting on July 26 at the park amphitheatre while Pratt performed a variety of pieces that showcased her skill, including music by Bach, Biber, Enesco, Ysaye, and O’Connor. The audience was also educated on the history, context and performance nature of each piece.
Admission was by donation for the LDSS music program in honour of former LDSS music teacher, Laurie Rowbotham. $725 was collected.
Pratt has had a prize-winning career and has performed around Canada and the United States. She lives with her family in New York where she has joined the company of the New York City Ballet Orchestra for the coming season.
Each year, she returns to Ontario in the summer to visit her parents, and will be performing concerts Aug. 6-14 on the Bruce Peninsula. For more information, go to www.musiconthebruce.com.
