To the editor:
The machines at the factory no longer make a sound.
The Wescast foundry is shut down. Wescast is withholding their severance and pension.
They are playing games with the worker’s minds. These are different times.
They have broken the collective agreement. There is a lot of discontent.
The workers and unifor had a rally last week. The workers and unifor got up to speak.
This closure affects the workers mentally and financially.
The workers and unifor will stand together in solidarity, and are determined to win.
What Wescast is doing is a sin.
It is the workers right to receive their pension and severance in closure and retirement.
This is their entitlement. I worked at Wescast for 21 years. The thought of losing your pension and severance was never a worker’s fear.
The Levan family were the owners a way back then. Mr. Richard Levan was a trustworthy and caring owner, it was a win-win.
I feel for the workers, and worked with a lot of them.
Wescast! Shame on you! Give the workers, what is their due.
